Dipper  Cinclus cinclus

An adult and juvenile dipper photographed in the Forest of Dean, May 2007.  The environment here is very dark forcing me to shoot at 400ASA and 1/20 second plus fill-flash.  They breed close to a stoneworks that used to pollute the stream heavily with lubricants, as well waste from nearby mines.  Thankfully today, the pollution is limited to tourist litter - still disgraceful but not harmful to the wildlife.
