Top photo of a female at Cannop Ponds, Forest of Dean, February 2008.   Note the similarity with the Lapland Bunting!   Lower photo taken at Slimbridge in January 2007.  The light became so warm and glorious as the sun neared the horizon.  The reed heads were blowing quite strongly and it was hard work to keep the bird in focus whilst waiting for a good pose and composition.

A very rare British bird found only in Devon, especially around Prawle Point.  It is the continental version of the Yellowhammer (below), but to me at least, more striking.

A very rare sight nowadays in the UK.  Usually easy to locate due to their obvious call, but a careful approach is required to get close, best done from a car if possible

Serins are found in groups, in parks, gardens, churchyards, cemeteries and other suburban locations that offer dense cover.  Confined to the south and south east of England.
