Bittern  Botaurus stellaris

This very obliging bittern took up residence at Slimbridge (Gloucestershire) in January 2007.  Four reliable places to see the Bittern is at Fishers Pool in the Lee Valley (Essex), Leighton Moss (Lancashire), Minsmere (Norfolk) and Upton Warren (Worcestershire).

To photograph them well requires a lot of luck or dedication and patience as they do not often show well.
